RCB vs CSK: Not Virat Kohli Scott Styris Names a Player RCB Should Not Even Think About Releasing Ahead of the IPL 2025 Mega Auction

The former New Zealand all-rounder has named the player Royal Challengers Bengaluru should not release ahead of the mega auction for the next edition of the Indian Premier League.

The players’ three-year contract ends after the ongoing IPL 2024. The last mega auction took place before the 2022 edition. Currently, teams are allowed to retain four players before each mega auction. And while only time will tell how many players each team will be allowed to retain ahead of the upcoming mega auction, Scott Styris has warned RCB against releasing Rajat Patidar.

The New Zealand star praised the batsman and stated that RCB should not even think of letting the batsman into the auction pool. He also supported him to become stronger in the future.

“Rajat Patidar has made great strides. We knew what talent he had anyway. But if I were in charge of RCB and allowed to retain four players, Rajat Patidar would be one of the four.” Styris told Jio Cinema on Thursday, May 16.

“Think of all the big names, arguably one of the bigger names around him. But he would be one of the names I would keep. I’ll say, ‘No, no, we won’t even risk throwing you out again.’ “You’re too good,” I think. he added.

Rajat Patidar struggled to get going in the initial stages of the ongoing IPL 2024 before turning things around in spectacular fashion. His form is one of the main reasons for RCB’s brilliant late comeback in the tournament.

He has hit four half-centuries in his last five innings and has been very tough against the spin bowlers. So far, he has hit 20 sixes against the spinners and has achieved a strike rate of 224.69 against them.

Rajat Patidar’s IPL journey so far:

Rajat Patidar’s IPL journey began in 2021 when RCB handed him his first IPL contract. In his first season, Patidar managed to score a modest 71 runs in 4 matches and was released before the mega auction. In the mega auction, the right-handed batsman remained unsold as he could not receive a bid.

Later, RCB signed him as a replacement for an injured man. He further justified his decision by saying that he had a stunning, unbeaten match-winning century against the Lucknow Super Giants in the Eliminator tournament. He became the first uncapped player to score a century goal in the playoffs. In total, he scored 333 runs in eight matches in IPL 2022. Unfortunately, he couldn’t play a game in IPL 2023 due to injury but was picked up by RCB.
