Premier League 2024/25 Season Start Date, Schedule, Fixtures, International Breaks and Last Day

Are you already looking forward to the 2024/25 Premier League season?

The new season begins just 90 days after the conclusion of the 2023/24 season with new teams, jerseys and players, as well as restored rivalries.

Here’s everything you need to know, from announcing a big game date to international breaks.

When does the 2024/25 Premier League season start?

The 2024/25 Premier League season begins this weekend 17th/18th August.

The campaign runs over 33 weekends, four midweek rounds and one holiday game week.

The Premier League has announced that teams will be given more rest time in three of the festive rounds of fixtures to address the “crowded fixture list over Christmas and New Year”, with no club allowed to play within 60 hours of another game.

Unlike in 2023, when Wolves hosted Chelsea on Christmas Eve, there will be no game on December 24, 2024.

When does the Premier League season end?

The last round of the game continues Sunday, May 25, 2025. All games start at the same time.

When will the 2024/25 Premier League fixtures be released?

The Premier League games – all 380 – are published at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, June 18th.

Last year, Sky Sports simultaneously confirmed its selection for the opening weekend for live coverage.

Dates and kick-off times for all Premier League games are subject to change.

Which teams will be new to the top division in 2024/25?

Ipswich is back in the Premier League

Leicester City immediately sealed promotion from the Championship to the Premier League.

Kieran McKenna led Ipswich town back in the top division after 22 years.

The line-up for the 2024/25 season will be completed after the Championship play-off final on May 26, with the winner of the semi-final between Leeds and Norwich facing West Brom or Southampton at Wembley.

Sheffield United and Burnley were relegated in 2023/24, with Luton’s fate set to be sealed on the final day.

When does the summer transfer window open and close?

The 2024 Premier League summer transfer window officially opens on Friday June 14th.

The window will close at 11pm UK time on August 30th.

The Premier League has brought forward its deadline day in order to network with the other major leagues in Europe. The final dates were set after discussions with leagues in England, Germany, Italy, Spain and France.

Is there a winter break this season?

The mid-season break has also been removed from the calendar to allow for a mid-August start date for the Premier League.

This longer summer break will allow all Premier League clubs to better ensure players receive a three-week break in a row over the summer. This takes into account the expert advice of medical and technical departments, which value a longer break in the summer rather than a short break in the winter.

According to the FIFA men’s international match calendar, England’s new Nations League season has international breaks scheduled for September 1-9, October 6-14 and November 10-18, 2024.

Another international break will take place from March 23 to 31, 2025, when 2026 World Cup qualifying begins.
