PAK Vs. CAN: Azhar Mahmood Attacks Media After Azam Khan Caught Eating Street Food in US

Pakistan’s assistant coach Azhar Mahmood has assisted wicketkeeper-batter Azam Khan in eating street food during the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in New York. Azhar Mahmood believes that there is life after cricket and players can enjoy their life after the game.

Azam Khan is one of the players of the Pakistan team in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. He is often mocked for his overweight. The right-handed batsman was eliminated without a point in the first match against the USA and was dropped from the starting XI for the next match against India.

Interestingly, some journalists caught Azam Khan enjoying street food at a food truck in New York late at night. The video of that moment was also captured and went viral on social media. Moreover, no one has denied Azam Khan’s presence in the video.

There is life beyond cricket: Azhar Mahmood supports Pakistani players with diet plans

Following the loss to India, Pakistan’s assistant coach Azhar Mahmood held a press conference. During the conference, a journalist raised questions about the diet of Pakistani players during the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, mentioning incidents where the players had eaten out late at night.

Responding to the question, an angry Azhar Mahmood supported his players and said it was a good way to relax after a loss. He also said that there is life beyond cricket for players too.

“Did you see the match day? Brother, cricket is played on the ground. There is life beyond cricket. You were there. I tell you, you were there. I saw you there too. The thing is, we are a very emotional nation,” the former all-rounder said.

“I mean, it’s not possible that if you lose a game, your life is over. Yes, it is. How are you going to do that? If you lose a game and then come into the room and hit the walls of the room, then you need a little time to relax your mind,” the 49-year-old added.

Eating is entertainment for every team, says Mahmood

Mahmood also said that food is one of the entertainment activities for the players when a team goes on an overseas tour. He also noted that there would have been no questions about the diet plans if Pakistan had won both the matches.

“Of course, our players are not like that. I have also played for English teams. When they go to such a place, they can only go there to eat, that is our entertainment. And now tell me, who doesn’t stick to a diet plan?”

“All teams in the world do this. There is no such thing. When we lose, we feel that we are not following this or that. If we had won, you would not be asking me this question,” concluded Mahmood, who played for the Pakistan national team from 1997 to 2007.

Fans teased Azam Khan about his weight in the opening match against the USA

Azam Khan was also taunted by fans in the stadium during the opening match against USA in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Some fans had placards saying ‘Stop eating Azam Khan’. Shockingly, the Pakistani batsman also noticed the placards and took out his anger on those fans during the match.

Pakistan have lost two matches in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. They will face Canada and Ireland on June 11 and 16 respectively. Pakistan now has a very slim chance of reaching the Super 8 round.
