Newly Presented MG Hector BlackStorm Edition in a Walkaround Video

Morris Garages, popularly known as MG, entered the Indian market in 2017 with its compact SUV Hector. MG has been updating the Hector from time to time with the facelifted version launched in January 2023. Now MG has introduced one New version of Hector, the Blackstorm Edition. Today we will explain the details of this new variant through a YouTube video uploaded by Bunny Punia.

Before we get into the details, let’s first understand what exactly the Blackstorm Edition is. Similar to the Dark Edition in Tata cars, Blackstorm is MG’s name for its completely blacked-out cars. The Blackstorm edition was first introduced in the flagship SUV Gloster, followed by the Astor.

This edition contains only cosmetic changes and no mechanical changes. The MG Hector Blackstorm Edition is available in five, six and seven-seat configurations, with six- and seven-seat options offered on the Hector Plus. However, this edition is only available in the top-end variant of the car, the Sharp Pro.

The presenter starts with the front optics of the SUV. At the front, the MG Hector has a large chrome grille, which has been replaced by a black chrome grille to match the theme. In addition to the radiator grille, all other chrome elements and headlight lenses are also darkened.

As for the side profile, as expected, the alloy wheels are also black. The SUV features all four disc brakes, which now have red-colored calipers, giving it a sporty look and contrast. The chrome parts on the body paneling, door handles and window trim were also replaced with the dark chrome elements.

Similar changes have been made to the rear, which include darkened taillights and replacing normal chrome elements with black chrome. After the exterior, the presenter shows the cabin of the SUV. Following the dark theme, the interior of the SUV is also completely black.

The interior also features darkened silver and chrome accents that further complement the theme. However, the host mentions that there is no contrast in the interior. Additionally, he suggests that red accents could be added to the interior in several places such as the dashboard, seat seams and around the gear lever.

The Hector comes with features like a vertically mounted infotainment system, 60-degree surround camera, six airbags, wireless charger, automatic climate control, digital driver display, panoramic sunroof, ventilated and power-adjustable front seats and Level 2 ADAS features.

As for the engine specifications, the 7-seater Hector Blackstorm is only available with a diesel manual transmission, while the five and 6-seater versions are available with both a petrol CVT transmission and a diesel manual transmission. This edition is also not offered in the petrol manual. For those who don’t know, Hector and Hector Plus do not have an automatic diesel option.

The MG Hector is powered by a 1.5 liter petrol and a 2.0 liter diesel engine. The petrol engine produces 141 hp and 250 Nm of torque and is mated to a six-speed manual or CVT transmission. The diesel engine, on the other hand, produces 168 hp and 350 Nm of torque and is only available with a six-speed manual transmission.
