Under the plan, Mitsubishi will launch an all-new or redesigned vehicle every year between 2026 and 2030. Two of these will open up new segments in which the automaker does not currently compete.

According to an unnamed dealer who spoke to Autonews, Mitsubishi is planning to enter the minivan segment with a rugged vehicle based on the D:X concept that was unveiled at the Japan Mobility Show last fall. The futuristic six-seater featured a plug-in hybrid powertrain, a Delica-like design and chunky off-road tires to “provide a feeling of strength.”

Mitsubishi also promised a fully electric vehicle as part of Momentum 2030, and previous reports suggest that the company will get help from Nissan (with which the company has close ties) in bringing this vehicle to market. Unfortunately, no details about the vehicle have been announced yet. It was also reported that Mitsubishi could once again launch a pickup truck with the help of Nissan.

In the crossover and SUV segment, Mitsubishi will introduce a more rugged variant of the Outlander next year that has “Subaru Outback-like” proportions, according to the unnamed dealer. This will be followed by a new small crossover with a plug-in hybrid drive, which will replace the soon-to-be-released Mirage as the brand’s entry-level model.

In addition to entering new segments, Mitsubishi will also expand its presence in North America by opening new dealerships in parts of the U.S. where it has never been before. The new locations will feature an updated look and feel, making the brand more accessible to customers than ever before. With help from Nissan, the automaker will also produce one of its new vehicles in North America.

“Mitsubishi Motors is at a critical juncture in North America and is laying out a bold, clear and achievable plan for our future success in the United States,” said Mark Chaffin, president and CEO of Mitsubishi Motors North America. “Momentum 2030 will build on this and set the stage for the introduction of new powertrains and vehicles, the opening of new dealerships and the development of new technologies to make the shopping and ownership experience faster, easier and more enjoyable.”
