Seth Rollins faced Logan Paul at WrestleMania 39.
Seth Rollins beat Logan Paul with a Stomp in the most exciting showdown at WrestleMania 39.
Logan Paul descended from the stands of SoFi Stadium to a thunderous roar, accompanied by the Prime Hydration mascot, who turned out to be KSI, while Seth Rollins was welcomed by a stage manager leading the 66,000-plus in attendance. In the perfect scene, Logan Paul accidentally hits a frog on the Prime Mascot on the table.
WrestleMania 39 weekend saw Andy Kaufman inducted into the legendary wings of the WWE Hall of Fame. Suffice it to say, not only did Logan Paul carry Kaufman’s legacy as a popular wrestler, he surpassed him.
Like iconoclast fighters such as Floyd Mayweather, Chael Sonnen, Conor McGregor, Ronda Rousey and Muhammad Ali, Paul has successfully borrowed from the pro wrestling formula to make himself a marketable fighter in the world of boxing. So it’s no surprise that Paul made the switch to WWE. The fact that Paul was a great fighter, however, has been a revelation.
As for the famous wrestler, Paul is a five-armed wrestler. In fact, Paul represents a revolutionary celebrity as he is a super athlete who can perform feats no celebrity has ever attempted. Paul’s Royal Rumble double-springboard performance with Ricochet is already engrained in WWE lore. Few, if any, famous wrestlers in history can match Paul’s athleticism, and more importantly, Paul is a popular personality that WWE fans love to hate.
Far from being a legend-driven celebrity who is protected in the ring, Paul’s matches are often better than his promos and shows that lead up to them, and he pulls off the big bars.
Paul now 2-2 as a famous wrestler. WWE would be wise to build on Paul’s short career with more wins and eventually a championship in WWE. Whenever the time is right, the heel world championship can bring the brand of WWE’s most famous press.
As for Seth Rollins, Rollins is still one of the most popular kids in WWE after committing to the resurrection following a feud with “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt. Rollins’ title track has taken him out of the dark and into the light at the top of the WWE roster, even if he finds himself on the outside looking in as a national champion if Cody Rhodes ends the story. Not only is Rollins now his partner since Rhodes’ return, Rollins has already lost three in a row to Rhodes.
It’s hard to imagine WWE booking Rollins anywhere near Rhodes at the beginning of Cody’s reign as this would be the American Nightmare’s fourth loss in a row.
Fortunately, with his unquestioned status as an up and coming star, Rollins doesn’t need a world championship. Until his time in the world title picture returns, Rollins will continue to be a valuable player in WWE. One that should continue to hover around the big picture of events after beating Logan Paul at WrestleMania.
