Justin Baldoni Announces He Was Hospitalized Due to an Infection

Justin Baldoni has a new outlook on life after a frightening medical shock.

The It ends with us star on Monday on Instagram to Share a slideshow of snapshots shows him in a hospital bed while he is hugged by both his wife Emily Baldoni and their two children – Daughter Maiya, 8, and son Maxwell, 6.

“Nothing is better than an infection and a week in the hospital to put everything into perspective,” wrote 40-year-old Baldoni under the photos in which he is smiling and hugging his loving family. “God is so good. On the mend and I am grateful.”

Baldoni also shared some words of love and gratitude to his family, friends and the doctors who helped him through his frightening medical situation.

“Thank you to the incredible team of doctors and nurses at St. John’s. Your dedication and compassion were extraordinary,” the actor wrote. “To the friends and family who knew I was here – thank you for your prayers, visits and for cheering me up.”

“And to my wife, my soul mate – who is so stubborn that she wouldn’t leave my side and slept on a bench… I love you to bits. Forever,” Baldoni concluded.

Baldoni did not provide details about what type of infection or possible medical complication caused his week-long hospital stay.

The medical scare came just weeks after the release of The Garfield Movieproduced under Baldoni’s production company Wayfarer Entertainment Company, just before the highly anticipated release of It ends with us on August 9th – what Baldoni directed, produced and starred in Opposite Blake Lively.

ET spoke to Baldoni about the Garfield – The Movie red carpet just last monthwhere the excited filmmaker talked about how the film got Taylor Swift to agree to the use of her song “My Tears Ricochet” in the trailer of her romantic drama.

“That’s all Blake,” Baldoni told ET. “I have no idea [how she did it] but Blake knows everyone…she and Taylor are very good friends. I’m so glad they agreed to have a song in the trailer, it’s so perfect for the movie.”

Baldoni also expressed his delight at the enthusiasm of fans for the film — an adaptation of the best-selling novel of the same name by Colleen Hoover.

“I’m just happy that the response has been so positive. I know the fans have been waiting for this for a long time and it’s a very special book for many reasons – especially for many women – and our mission is to do them justice,” Baldoni shared.
