John Mulaney Reveals Who Passed on Everybody’s in LA

John Mulaney hired several stars for his Everyone is in LA series – but he didn’t get all the ones he wanted.

Although the Netflix special was a success, Mulaney said he was still nervous about chatting with one particular guest: the 77-year-old Letterman.

“I was afraid he would say, ‘Oh, you think you know how to run a weird show?'” he said Deadline. “I certainly wasn’t, but then again, I don’t think he or I were trying to make a weird show. We’re trying to make a good show, and those were the ideas we had, and yes, they are weird.”

Apart from Everyone is in LAMulaney also made headlines for his appearance in a second season episode of The bear in June 2023, but he has not confirmed whether he will return for season 3. (The comedian played the friend of Sarah PaulsonThe character Michelle, a cousin of Jeremy Allen White‘s Carmy, Abby Elliott‘s Natalie and Jon Bernthal(is Mikey.)

“I know they film a lot of stuff,” he said during an episode of diversity Awards Circuit podcast on Thursday, June 6. “I know they do a lot and shoot a lot of episodes.”

Although he did not say whether he would appear, Mulaney talked about how much fun he had filming The bear.

“Sitting at that dining table between takes was one of the funniest moments of my career,” he explained. “When we were shooting – we sat at the table of [Bob] Odenkirk at full speed and Bernthal – and in the same room, just about to start, was intense. And to be yelled at by Donna when Jamie Lee Curtis did is like an Amtrak train that moves and doesn’t stop at the station. It blew my mind.”
