However, while replying, she said, “I think I made it sound more dramatic than necessary.” She then explained why cricket was one of the things Boney sometimes ignored her for. Janhvi explained her statement by saying that Boney is simply in love with cricket and it was one of the things during her childhood that diverted her father’s attention from her. However, Janhvi also praised her father and added:

“I didn’t dislike it. I would just put it down to what sometimes takes my father’s attention away from me. He was a very pleasant, very good father. He still is. But he loves cricket, like he lives for cricket, and if you try to have a conversation with him while he’s watching cricket, he’ll ignore you.”

Janhvi Kapoor once spoke about being paranoid if she lost her parents

Earlier, Janhvi had a candid conversation with Ranveer Allahbadia for his podcast, where she recalled sneaking into her parents Sridevi and Boney Kapoor’s room at night to check if they were breathing. She mentioned that she was paranoid from a young age because she feared losing her parents and would freak out over little things. She detailed that once when she boarded a plane with her nanny while her parents were out shopping, she soon started having trouble breathing because she felt that her parents would not be coming home.

Janhvi Kapoor has spoken several times about her father’s absence in her life

In the same conversation, Janhvi talked about how children mature at a certain age and forgive their parents for many things. She mentioned that her maternal instinct has become stronger now. She also understood why her father was absent from many events in her life and explained:

“At a certain age, they become our children. I know I’m going to give my dad a lot more leeway to maybe not be there for me emotionally in the way I expected a father to be, just because I know now is the time to be there for him. I think we’re too hard on our parents. Everyone’s fucked up because of their parents, nobody did it right. But they’re fucked up because of their parents too. Nobody followed a handbook, so you have to forgive yourself and forgive them. Just give them love and be there for them.”
