Jamie Foxx Reacts Emotionally to First Father’s Day Since the Health Crisis

Jamie Foxx is emotional ahead of Father’s Day. The 56-year-old actor will celebrate the holiday for the first time since his Hospitalization and recovery after an unspecified medical emergency a year ago, and in a preview of Tuesday’s episode of Defeat ShazamHis daughter Corinne Foxx takes a moment to send him a nice Father’s Day greeting and celebrate this special occasion.

In the preview, Corinne tells her father that while there is a tradition of him joking about “how expensive children are” and getting emotional, she has decided to break the tradition and try something new “so you can keep your composure.”

“I’ll just show you something instead,” says the 30-year-old, while a photo of her as a little girl with Jamie appears on the big screen.

“It really means a lot to me this year because we’ve been through a lot, we’ve been through a lot,” Jamie replies after hugging his eldest daughter.

“You’re absolutely right, we’ve been through so much and this is a very special Father’s Day for many reasons, but most of all because you’re here, Dad, and we’re working together, doing what we love together,” Corrine tells Jamie in front of a photo of her and her younger sister, 15-year-old Anelise.

Corinne continues: “Anelise and I admire you so much, we are so grateful for everything you do for us. You do everything you can for your family – you have no idea how generous this man is, he really does everything he can for us. And you deserve the world, Dad.”

Jamie can’t help but get emotional as the two tenderly embrace to cement the loving moment.

Corinne and Jamie returned to her hosting duties for the seventh season of Defeat Shazam in May, one year after a unknown medical emergency left him in the hospital.

News of Jamie’s hospitalization was announced in April 2023. However, the nature of his medical emergency was never disclosed Corinne spoke out to end speculation about the actor’s health.

Corinne said her dad won’t be an emotional wreck the entire time. Instead, her guests can expect him to get the party started – and keep it going.

“He loves a good party,” she said when asked if he’ll be performing or DJing. “So there’s no way he won’t be up there at some point playing ‘Blame It’ or ‘Gold Digger.’ It’s just got to happen.”
