If You’re Going to Spend $1 Million on a Supercar, You Should Get it so Dirty

Yesterday, while walking through Beverly Hills with friends, I came across a very special car. This 2019 model with extremely low mileage Porsche 911 GT2 RS is one of the most bespoke specifications of the model that Porsche has created, with over $344,000 in options, making its MSRP of $639,345 217 percent higher than the car’s base price. As if that wasn’t enough, it was recently auctioned by RM Sotheby’s as part of The White Collection for a whopping $1,006,000.

Even more exciting than seeing this unique GT2 parked on the street was seeing how damn dirty that’s it. If you’re going to spend $1 million on a car, you better get your hands dirty!

As the name suggests, almost all of the White Collection vehicles were painted white and were rarely driven. This GT2 RS had only fifteen miles on the odometer when it was auctioned, and I was overjoyed to see that the front end was covered in bugs and the side panels of the rear fender flares were covered in rubber. I think white cars look particularly good when they’re dirty, and high-performance cars look even better when they’re not spotless.

Although this GT2 doesn’t look special at first glance, it comes with a lot of custom details from the factory. Grand Prix White is a shade from Porsche’s “Paint to Sample” catalog and covers all the exterior components that are normally black, such as the front splitter, side skirts, rear apron and grille mesh. All of the exterior carbon fiber is tinted dark blue and the wheels are painted Deep Sea Blue.

You can’t see it in my pictures, but the interior is also very custom. Almost everything is covered in Yachting Blue leather, a common thread in many White Collection cars, and it has pebble grey stitching and Bianco Leda piping. According to RM Sotheby’s, more than 25 different areas have been covered in matching leather, and the Alcantara headliner is also in Yachting Blue. Other details include Grand Prix White dials, lots of blue carbon fibre parts and even matching floor mats.

So who bought this extremely expensive, extremely low-mileage Porsche and then drove it like crazy? Edwin Castro, the man who won the $2 billion Powerball lottery back in 2022. Castro, a California native who had worked as a mechanic, has lived every car enthusiast’s dream by amassing a superb collection of vintage and new cars, including a number of Porsches. To all the rich people reading this, whether you’re nouveau riche or have the old money, The is the way you should use your car.
