Hollie Doyle Blog: Wedgewood Can Take Advantage of Lower Turf Mark at Chepstow on Saturday

Four drives at Chepstow on Saturday – live on Sky Sports Racing – are followed by a Sunday afternoon at Goodwood for Sky Sports Racing ambassador Hollie Doyle.

Wedgewood can take advantage of lower turf mark

It’s a relatively quiet weekend for me as I focus my thoughts on Royal Ascot, which starts in a week on Tuesday – live on Sky Sports Racingof course. The highlight for me will be my old warrior Trueshanwho will hopefully run in the Gold Cup if the ground suits him.

I am at Chepstow also on Saturday live on Sky Sports Racingwhere I work with Tony Carroll’s Sprinter for the first time Wedgewood. She is a mare I know well, so I expect a great run from her in the Download Vickers.Bet App Handicap (5.25).

I won the four-year-old at Wolverhampton last spring and was second at the Tapeta track in April. She is tough and consistent and she had excuses when I rode her at Brighton last month.

She didn’t cope particularly well with the hill that day but ran a decent race in her only previous start at this track so I’m confident she can take advantage of her lower turf mark on this undulating 5f.

Chance to win Marmalade

Another mare with good chances on Saturday is Hughie Morrison’s JAM LADYwho clearly showed signs of youthful form when she reappeared at Lingfield last month.

Due to the longer distance, she is clearly in a better position and now seems to have a chance of winning the 1m4f. Join our Free Bets Club at Vickers.Bet Handicap (9.00) in Chepstow.

She could be rated well with an unchanged rating of 52 if she can transfer her all-weather form to potentially fast terrain such as grass.

The rating needs to be improved

We hope for an improvement through EVALUATION in the Vickers.Bet Handicap (7.00) a little earlier on Chepstow’s map.

Archie Watson’s five-year-old has disappointed since arriving from Sir Michael Stoute last autumn and was comfortably beaten over 6f at Doncaster last time out.

The step back to 7f in a weaker race could help him in this class and Archie putting the hood on him for the first time will hopefully help him to be relaxed going into his race.

I hope Mayz finds her way

MAYZ must also find her best form in the 1m Best odds guaranteed at Vickers.Bet Everyday Handicap (8.30).

John Gallagher’s mare was not used in a 1m handicap at Brighton last week, but was unlucky not to get close over that course and distance before that.

She didn’t get a run that day when she needed it, but she definitely has a chance of running again on the Welsh track as long as the ground doesn’t get too fast for her.

Royal winner back in rhythm

My Royal Ascot winner RHYTHM AND HOOFS made a long overdue return to the winning range at Doncaster last time and should also be in the Racehorse shares from £45 at racingclub.com Handicap (5.40) at Good wood on Sunday.

Archie Watson’s sprinter was successful in the Palace Of Holyroodhouse Stakes at the Royal Meeting last season and must overcome a step-up of 4lb and a top weight of 10st 1lb.

He’s not the biggest so carrying that kind of weight will be a slight concern for him but the win at Town Moor will have done his confidence a lot of good so I’m confident.

The spectacular Troy has the world at its feet

City of Troy definitely silenced his doubters in last weekend’s Derby and I can’t wait to see where his champion trainer Aidan O’Brien takes him next.

The son of Triple Crown winner Justify has been discussed for a dirt run in the USA and given his lineage, it would make perfect sense.

The way he unleashed that burst of speed to secure Aidan his tenth Epsom Classic win will live long in the memory and wherever he ends up, he is another Ballydoyle stallion we can all enjoy this summer.
