‘He Will Command More Respect in the Dressing Room’ – Virat Kohli’s Childhood Coach Prefers MS Dhoni to Gautam Gambhir as India Coach

The BCCI will soon appoint a new head coach for Team India. Rahul Dravid’s tenure as head coach will end next month after the conclusion of the upcoming T20 World Cup, scheduled to be played from June 1 to 29.

The former Indian national team captain could have extended his contract but has reportedly decided to step down from the post to spend time with his family. The BCCI recently invited applications from candidates and the application deadline was May 27. The board will now make a shortlist of candidates and interview them before appointing the new head coach.

Currently, it is not clear who will replace Dravid. Several high-profile candidates have been linked with the post, including Stephen Fleming, Mahela Jayawardene and Gautam Gambhir. Ricky Ponting and Justin Langer have also been linked with the post, but BCCI secretary Jay Shah recently denied these rumours.

Rajkumar Sharma prefers MS Dhoni:

According to several reports, the BCCI is looking to appoint Gautam Gambhir as the next head coach of the Indian national team. Although Gambhir has not coached any national or state team yet, the board prefers him to succeed Dravid as the next coach.

However, Virat Kohli’s childhood coach has said that he would prefer former Indian captain MS Dhoni as the new coach of the Indian national team. Although Dhoni is not yet considered as India’s coach as he is still active as a cricketer, Sharma stated that the legendary cricketer would be a good choice.

Speaking to India News’ CRICIT PREDICTA programme, Sharma said: “First of all, it will be interesting to see which names are applying for this position. I want the person who becomes coach to be a Indian.

If Mahendra Singh Dhoni announces his retirement, he could prove to be a good option. He (Dhoni) has played a lot of cricket and won major tournaments. Dhoni will command more respect in the dressing room and he has been playing this format for a long time.

Be Being able to plan for the team and manage it properly is the most important thing in the team because if Dhoni became captain, there were great players in this team like Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Rahul Dravid, Harbhajan Singh, Anil Kumble, Gautam Gambhir and Yuvraj Singh were present. Nevertheless Dhoni led the team excellently,” he added.

In 2021, Dhoni had plied his trade as a mentor for Team India in the T20 World Cup but failed to make an impression. India had a disastrous outing as they failed to make it to the semifinals after losses to Pakistan and New Zealand.
