Gypsy Rose Blanchard had to get creative when it came to makeup in prison.

Gypsy, 32, who served seven years at the Chillico Correctional Center in Missouri after being convicted of second-degree murder in her mother’s death, Claudine “Dee Dee” Blanchardexplained via TikTok in a video on Wednesday, May 15, that her “history” with cosmetics “isn’t very long.”

She explained, “Before I went to prison, I wasn’t allowed to wear makeup.” (Gypsy was a victim of Munchausen syndrome by proxy.)

Before her sentencing in 2016, Gypsy was in prison and had to rely on homemade makeup products to look “presentable” in court appearances. “I took toothpaste, broke a stick and mixed it into mascara,” she explained. “I would apply it with a toothbrush.” She also took ground coffee beans and “used those as eyeshadow.”
