ENG Vs. PAK: “Not Even the USA and Ireland Are Afraid of Pakistan” – Kamran Akmal Agrees with Michael Vaughan as He Sharply Criticises Babar Azam & Co.

Former Pakistan cricketer Kamran Akmal has launched an attack on the Babar Azam-led team ahead of the 2024 T20 World Cup. He said that Michael Vaughan was right in his comments about Pakistan cricket as the standard of the team has dropped and no team fears Pakistan.

The Pakistan cricket team has been making headlines in the last few months. The team has seen a change of captaincy as Babar Azam was once again appointed as the captain of the team. However, after that, things have not been so good for them as they are on their way to the T20 World Cup 2024.

The Pakistan cricket team drew the series against the second-tier New Zealand team. To make matters worse for them, they lost a match against Ireland in the series. Although they ended up winning the three-match series, it was a reality check for them.

Things were looking bad for the team in the ongoing T20I series against England. After the first match between the teams fell through, Pakistan suffered a crushing defeat in the second T20I against the Three Lions. While chasing 184 runs, they were bowled out for just 160 runs and trailed 0-1 in the series.

Despite fielding a star-studded line-up, things are not going well for them. This may have raised alarm bells in the camp. But with two matches left, they have a great opportunity to correct their mistakes. However, given the team’s performances, Michael Vaughan recently mocked the Babar Azam-led side for having English players leave the IPL to play series.

Michael Vaughan said that the England players should have played in the IPL rather than the Pakistan series because he believes playing in front of a huge crowd, with pressure and expectations, would have helped the team in the World Cup. Speaking on the Club Praire Fire podcast, he explained:

“I think you miss the trick when you send all your players home. You know, I think Will Jacks, Phil Salt and Jos Butler in particular, playing in the play-offs of the IPL, pressure, crowd, expectations. I would argue that playing here is better preparation than playing a T20 game against Pakistan.”

We select players based on likes and dislikes – Kamran Akmal

Michael Vaughan’s statement did not go down well with many in Pakistan, who slammed the former England player for his comments. But Kamran Akmal was on the same page as Vaughan, echoing his comments and slamming the Pakistan national cricket team.

Kamran Akmal stated that the standard of Pakistani cricket has dropped to such a level that even teams like the United States of America and Ireland will not have to worry about them in the 2024 T20 World Cup. He commented on this on his YouTube channel:

“I agree with Michael Vaughan, he is 100% right. The standard of Pakistani cricket has dropped so much that no team is afraid of us anymore. Even the USA and Ireland are not worried about us. We select players based on likes and dislikes.”

The third match of the series between England and Pakistan, which will also be a virtual decider, will be played in Cardiff on Tuesday (28 May).
