Donald Trump is the butt of the joke
The former US president’s profile has plummeted following news that he has been formally indicted for allegedly making hush money payments to Stormy Daniels ahead of his 2016 election campaign. He was due to turn himself in Tuesday morning; all was talking about mugshots.
Seeing the mugshot has taken on a life of its own, this morning on CNN with Don Lemon, Alina Haba, an attorney on Trump’s legal team, claimed it should be private. She uses Trump’s 2024 campaign to back up her reasoning.
“I like transparency. I think in some cases, it’s a good thing. I do have issues with leaking photos.” She further clarified. “I don’t think it’s going to help because we’re running because he’s the leading Republican nominee.”
Haba reminded Lemon that mugshots are not public records, and since Trump is a public figure, he should exercise his full rights.
She calls it drama. “Mugshots are for people so you can recognize who they are. He’s the most recognizable face in the world, let alone the country right now, so there’s no need. No drama required.”

Trump, meanwhile, was spotted leaving Mar-a-Lago and was expected to arrive in New York City by noon, while his plane, known as Trump One, was also spotted landing at LaGuardia Airport.
Trump’s arraignment is scheduled for 2:15 a.m. Tuesday.
