2024 Honda City Hatchback Launched in M’sia – New RS Variant, Honda Sensing Standard; from RM86k – Paultan.org

Honda Malaysia has already launched the new facelifted City Hatchback range in the local market after bookings opened on April 22. Five variants are offered for this new range of B-segment SUV models, the most basic of which is the expensive S 85,900 RMfollowed by E (RM90,900), V (RM95,900)a new variant of the RS (100,900 RM) and e:HEV RS are also offered at prices 112,900 RM. All prices are on-the-road prices without insurance.

The non-hybrid variant is powered by a 1.5-liter engine naturally sucked in In-line four-cylinder DOHC i-VTEC with an output of 121 hp (119 hp or 89 kW) at 6,600 rpm and a torque of 145 Nm at 4,300 rpm, with drive transmitted to the front wheels via a CVT.

The e:HEV RS variant is now equipped with a hybrid system Intelligent Multi-Mode Drive (i-MMD) the same, with the front wheels powered by an electric motor with a power of 109 hp (107 hp or 80 kW) and a torque of 253 Nm.

The electric motor is powered by a battery Lithium ion which is charged by a second electric motor connected to the 1.5 liter engine DOHC i-VTEC with naturally aspirated engine Four-cylinder Atkinson which is capable of delivering a power of up to 98 hp (80 kW) at 5,600 to 6,400 rpm and a torque of 127 Nm at 4,500 to 5,000 rpm. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a single-speed transmission (called E-CVT).

All non-hybrid variants can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 10.7 seconds, while the e:HEV RS variant does this in 9.7 seconds. While the highest achievable speed for the S and E variants is 195 km/h, it is only 194 km/h for the V and 193 km/h for the RS. The e:HEV RS’s top speed is only around 177 km/h.

In terms of fuel consumption, all non-hybrid variants are estimated to use around 5.6 liters per 100km, compared to the e:HEV RS which is significantly more economical at 3.7 liters per 100km.

As far as the cabin is concerned, not many changes have been made, the same goes for the City sedan. There are only a few parts that have changed, namely the charging socket, which has been converted into a USB-C unit (e:HEV only), and there is a small pocket on the back of the front seat (e:HEV only). .
