Flipkart is clocking more than 200 million fashion products in spring-summer of 2022


Ecommerce giant Flipkart said it recorded sales of more than 200 million fashion products in nearly 19,200 pin codes. The Spring Summer Season also played an important role for customers and sellers and saw close to 175,000 fashion sellers participate. These vendors came not only from subways but also from tier 2 and tier 3 cities. Customers shop for fashion and lifestyle products, including sarees, t-shirts for men, watches, sunglasses, courtesans for women and shoes, from national, international and own fashion brands.

According to sources, this is the first time that Flipkart has hit 200 million orders in the fashion category, from January to May this year, considered the spring-summer season, and surpassed the pre-pandemic sales in 2019, because the fashion segment quickly grew for the company amidst covid.



Flipkart refused to disclose the exact number of fashion products it sold in the same period in 2020 and 2021, but according to people familiar with the development, it was significantly less due to the impact of covid-induced lockdowns.

“This spring’s summer season saw a resurgence in consumption on the back of renewed economic recovery following the pandemic and we are pleased that sales lakhs saw a phenomenal response this season,” said Sandeep Karwa, Vice President, Flipkart Fashion. “It is also a testament to our efforts to bring unparalleled value in fashion stores to our customers. With a range of technological innovations that make shopping experiences personalized and seamless for our customers, we are bringing India and Bharat closer together, creating great growth opportunities for lakhs. of sellers and market partners.

This season saw customers shop for fashion products from all over the country, including subways, and a majority of these customers also from cities of tier 3, 4 and 5 shop for fashion products from cities such as Ranchi, Ernakulam, Kanpur, Medinipur and Cuttack, and a substantial number of the total customer base were first time fashion shoppers.

Ayush Baid, a Flipkart Fashion retailer who sells ethnic wear for women from Surat, Gujarat, said his business has grown at Flipkart by 500 percent during the spring-summer season. “This was made possible by the technology and power of e-commerce. Growth on Flipkart has led to the overall growth of the company,” said Baid.

Harish Dadwani, a Flipkart Fashion sales partner from Agra, Uttar Pradesh, said it has been 4 years since he joined e-commerce and through the Flipkart platform and has since seen a growth of more than 10X. “I had launched several new products in the spring-summer collection that saw a 50X growth spike,” Dadwani said. “I am very positive about setting new milestones and garnering new opportunities in the years to come and feel I can achieve much more through e-commerce, technology and Flipkart.”

During the spring-summer season, the traction was strengthened from cities including Bengaluru, Chennai, Gorakhpur, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Kochi and New Delhi. Flipkart Fashion promotes its goal of strengthening partnerships in the ecosystem and supporting regional brands and retailers, Flipkart Fashion saw participation of hundreds made in India markets this season, including sarees, men’s T-shirts, watches, sunglasses, kurtis for women, shoes and jeans included. The season saw enormous growth for its fashion sales partners and stimulated consumption of audiences across the country.

Walmart-owned Flipkart is in a fierce battle with rivals such as Amazon, Reliance’s JioMart and Tata to tap the booming e-commerce market in India. The Covid-19 pandemic has accelerated the shift to e-commerce, and more consumers are shopping online at a higher frequency on e-commerce platforms. The online retail market in India is expected to reach $ 350 billion in 2030 from $ 45-50 billion now.

Last year in November, e-commerce companies such as Flipkart, Amazon, and others witnessed blockbuster holiday season sales of about $ 9.2 billion year over the pre-pandemic sales of $ 5 billion witnessed during the 2019 holiday month.
