PUNE The PCMC police carried out a major crackdown on anti-social elements and criminals on record operating in the industrial township during a massive comb operation on May 19 and arresting as many as 88 historic sheeters during the prevention and detection station

PUNE The PCMC police carried out a major crackdown on anti-social elements and criminals operating on record in the industrial township during a massive comb operation on May 19 and arresting as many as 88 historic sheeters during the prevention and detection station.

According to police, all squads, ranging from anti-dacoity cells to crime branch, were activated to fight illegal crimes in various parts of the townships, controlling more than 130 criminals. Of these, 88 history magazines were found that violated the rules and were immediately arrested.

PCMC Extraordinary Commissioner of Police Sanjay Shinde said raids were carried out in isolated places and action was taken under relevant sections of the Bombay Police Act, Anti Bootlegging and Arms Act. Police also checked hotels, bars and other joints during the midnight drive which was carried out until 6 p.m.

The PCMC police have often carried out such operations to make life safe for the residents of the area. Also, nakabandi operations were carried out at more than 20 different locations to arrest criminals who sneak in at night. Flying squads were also deployed in action during the night comb operation, PCMC police said.

    ‘Sextortion’ racket broken, one held in Kolkata

    City police busted an inter-state racket involved in ‘sextortion’ via a dating website launched on Friday. A special team from the Talkatora police station arrested a 25-year-old from Kolkata who was supposed to be the chief programmer of the website. “We have arrested a boy named Sandeep Mandol from Ajeet Sen Building in Crooket lane Kolkata which is a densely populated area,” said Police Commissioner Lucknow, in-charge, cyber crime cell, Ranjeet Rai.

    PUNE Bharati Vidyapeeth police have filed an FIR against a man for forcing his wife to have a physical relationship with two of his friends. The incident took place at a Lodge in Hadapsar in December 2020 and also in July 2021, police officials said. The 48-year-old woman filed a FIR lawsuit against her husband and two friends on Wednesday. According to police, the suspect saw his friends commit the act.
