Amid opposition from BJP MP, Raj Thackeray postpones Ayodhya trip | Mumbai news

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray announced Friday that his proposed visit to Ayodhya on June 5 had been postponed. “Ayodhya tour postponed for now … will be explained in detail …,” Thackeray tweeted.

The decision comes after strong opposition from Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Uttar Pradesh, who threatened to disrupt the MNS chief’s visit unless he apologized to the North Indians for it. violence of his party against them in Mumbai in 2008.

“The local police have told our leaders that it will be difficult to provide security to MNS workers. The party has booked akhars to house our workers and even one stray incident of violence will provoke a general reaction against North Indians in Maharashtra , “said an MNS leader, who declined to go on record.

“We were told that the BJP deputy had heated up the atmosphere and there are intelligence inputs that there could be a friction between MNS workers and Singh’s supporters,” he added.

MNS leader Bala Nandgaonkar said the whole problem would be explained by Thackeray at his rally planned in Ganesh Kala Krida Kendra auditorium in Pune on Sunday. “Rajsaheb has already announced that he will explain his proposal on Sunday and we are all excited to hear from him.”

However, the BJP deputy is far from satisfied with the proposal. “Raj Thackeray may have postponed his tour, but we will not be satisfied until he offers an apology. Until he does, he will not be allowed, even in the future. The North Indian people can not forget his insults and they can only to be insured after he apologizes to her, “Singh said.

The MNS leader said: “Nobody has used such destructive remarks against Rajsaheb so far and he has restricted his people to strike back, but Brij Bhushan continues his tirade. This sends a bad message to the people because the Thackeray family does not tolerate such language and there is enormous pressure from the workers to take revenge.

Thackeray is also concerned about the BJP leadership, particularly Uttar Pradesh Prime Minister Yogi Adityanath, for its failure to restrict Singh. His grouse is Brij Bhushan abuses him daily and this can not go on, and that the whole campaign is orchestrated to offend him.

Although the Maharashtra BJP has tried to convince Thackeray that they are with him, they have expressed helplessness because the UP leadership is not responding positively.

Opposition leader Pravin Darekar, however, said: “Raj Thackeray has only postponed and canceled his visit. I do not think it is due solely to Brij Bhushan Singh. The deputy is conducting this campaign in his individual capacity. every Indian citizen can visit all places of worship and Raj Thackeray will visit Ayodhya in the very future.

MNS leaders have attributed the proposal to several reasons. One of them is Adityanath’s birthday is June 5 and an enormous celebration is already planned in Ayodhya. Another is Thackeray has developed medical problems and therefore his family does not want him to travel to UP.

The MNS also has logistical problems because it wants to reserve 10 trains exclusively for the Ayodhya trip and things are not working out. “As a holiday season, we were not able to solve the travel problems. Even accommodation is a problem because hotels are located in Faizabad and MNS workers were accommodated in Akharas. We had to show our strength because the whole media would cover this event, “said another MNS leader, who planned the trip and accommodation.

Shiv Sena mocked the MNS for postponing the visit. “I found out through the media that another party’s Ayodhya tour has been canceled. But if they wanted some assistance from us, we would have given it to them for their trip on June 5, because there “Many followers of Sena are in Uttar Pradesh and we are always welcome in Ayodhya. The people of Ayodhya, the saints and politicians of UP have welcomed us,” said Sena Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut.

The Sena leader further said that the visit of Environment Minister Aaditya Thackeray to Ayodhya would happen as planned on June 15, where he would probably visit the Iskcon temple and meet some local leaders.

Raut claimed that the BJP used Raj for his political gains. “We do not know what the problems are [led to the postponement] and why BJP did this to them. BJP always uses Maharashtra leaders for their political gains and this is wrong. “It would be good if some people became wiser after this incident, because it harms Maharashtra.”

After forming his party in 2006, Raj Thackeray started a campaign against North Indians. His workers attacked North Indian vendors and attacked theaters showing Bhojpuri films. Raj also opposed Chhath Puja, calling it a show of strength by the northern Indians. In addition, he focused on Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan and his wife Jaya Bachchan. saying they cared more about their homeland Uttar Pradesh than Mumbai. MNS activists even defeated North Indian candidates who appeared before the All India Railway Recruitment Board entrance exam for the western region held in Mumbai.

This paid him enormous dividends, as the MNS performed exceptionally well in the Lok Sabha of 2009 and meetings and the 2012 civil elections. The party was able to come to power in the Nashik civic body.

However, Raj changed his trail to successive defeats in the 2014 and 2019 general elections and embraced the Hindutva agenda in 2020. He started his campaign against the loudspeakers installed on top of the mosques, but it disappeared because of the strong action of the state government.

The MNS chief announced his visit to Ayodhya and claimed it in three of his rallies held in April and May. He was expected to oversee the construction of the Ram temple there. He also wanted to meet Adityanath, whom he praised for bringing down the loudspeakers of the mosques in UP.
