Upcoming 7-seater cars in India

Here we have mentioned our selection of the top ten upcoming 7 seater cars in India that are expected or confirmed to launch within a few years

In recent times, the demand for 7 seater cars has increased a lot in the Indian car market. People these days are looking for comfortable family cars that can seat an entire family and more in comfort, sometimes with room for luggage! Car manufacturers have noticed the trend, and so many new cars with 7 seats are currently in the works.

Here we have mentioned ten upcoming cars with 7 seats that are planned to launch in India, which most of us are waiting with anticipation.

1. Jeep Meridian

Jeep Meridian was recently unveiled in India, and it is expected to go on sale in our market around June this year. It will be powered by a 2.0-liter turbo diesel engine, which straps out 170 PS and 350 Nm, the same as Jeep Compass. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and a 9-speed automatic transmission. The SUV will have the same cabin design as Compass, but with more luxury offered.

2. New gen Mahindra Scorpio

Mahindra & Mahindra has been working on the next generation Scorpio for years, and the new SUV will launch in India this year. It is expected to get two engine options – a 2.0L turbo petrol unit and a 2.2L turbo diesel unit – likely available with a choice between a 6-speed MT and a 6-speed AT. The new-gen version will be much more upmarket than the current-gen model, and it is expected that it will go on sale alongside the latest.

Mahindra Bolero Neo Plus

M&M is also expected to bring TUV300 Plus back to India in a facelifted avatar, probably under the name ‘Bolero Neo Plus’. Technically, it will be a 9-seater SUV, with jump seats in the rear. The 2.2L turbo diesel engine (120 PS / 280 Nm) of the previous version is expected to return here, and it will probably only be combined with a 5-speed MT.

4. Maruti Ertiga facelift

Maruti Suzuki has recently started making bookings for the updated 2022 Ertiga in India, which is expected to launch later this month. The MPV is expected to have some aesthetic updates over the outgoing model, and it will be powered by a more powerful 1.5L petrol engine (K15C, with 115 PS peak power on tap).

5. Maruti XL6 facelift

Maruti XL6 is also set to be updated soon, and we expect it to have changes to the interior as well as exterior design. The new model will also be powered by the brand’s new and powerful K15C petrol engine. We also expect to offer some additional features here.

6. Toyota Rumion

Toyota is expected to launch a rebadged version of Maruti Ertiga in India soon, under the name Rumion. Similar to other Toyota-badged Maruti cars, Toyota Rumion will have a similar design to the Maruti MPV, with the modifications limited to a new grille and restyled bumpers. Mechanically, there will be no differences between these two MPVs.

7. Three-row Nissan Magnite

Nissan is reportedly planning to add a three-row / 7-seater version of Magnite to its lineup. The new model is expected to have the same dimensions as the existing 5-seater version, which would mean that the space will not be too impressive in the last row. The current engine options – a 1.0L NA petrol unit (72 hp) and a 1.0L turbo petrol unit (100 hp) – will likely be transferred to the 7-seater version.

This upcoming Hyundai Alcazar rival is expected to become the new flagship of the Indo-Japanese automaker when it launches, probably in a few years. According to speculation, it would be powered by a 1.5L petrol engine, but that can not be confirmed at this time.

9. Upcoming Hyundai MPV

Hyundai has been working on a new entry level MPV, which is rumored to be called ‘Stargazer’. This new MPV has been reviewed several times during tests on international roads, and it is expected to have its worldwide debut this year, followed by its launch in India later. Hyundai Stargazer will likely share its architecture with Kia Carens, and perhaps the powertrain options as well.
