UP CM launches ‘School Chalo Abhiyan’ on April 4

To guarantee 100 percent enrollment in primary and secondary schools in Uttar Pradesh, Prime Minister Yogi Adityanath will launch the ‘School Chalo Abhiyan’ from Shravasti district on Monday.

This will be an attempt by the state government to shape the future of primary education and holistic development of primary schools, said an official release issued here.

The prime minister has instructed officials that districts with a low alphabetic rate should be given priority and primary schools in the state should be equipped with better facilities, it said.

The ‘School Chalo Abhiyan’ is started from Shravasti district which has the lowest alphabetical rate in the state followed by Bahraich, Balrampur, Badaun and Rampur, according to the release.

State schools must achieve all the goals of ‘Operation Kayakalp’ which aims to give schools a facelift, Adityanath said.

He told officials that not only will public representatives be associated with ‘School Chalo Abhiyan’, but also MLAs must each adopt a school, according to the release.

In addition to this, officials should also adopt schools for their holistic development, the prime minister said.

Adityanath also pointed out that all government schools should provide basic facilities such as toilets, drinking water, furniture and smart lessons to students.

Departmental officials need to run a campaign to work with alumni (from public schools) and private companies to transform state-run schools, he said.

Instructions have also been issued to the primary education department to focus on the abhiyan and ensure the deployment of teachers in all state-run schools, Adityanath said.

Students will be provided with uniforms and shoes and socks during the campaign, the release said.
