Vaibhav Arora and Jitesh Sharma, who made their Indian Premier League debut on Sunday night, lived up to the captain’s expectations and played a key role in the Punjab Kings’ 54-run victory over CSK.

“Vaibhav can swing the ball both ways, so he’s the one we’re excited about. Jitesh is a goalkeeper who can pitch the ball in the middle,” Mayank Agarwal said after the toss against Chennai Super Kings on Sunday night.

Vaibhav Arora and Jitesh Sharma, who made their Indian Premier League debut on Sunday night, lived up to the captain’s expectations and played a key role in the Punjab Kings’ 54-run victory over CSK.

Jitesh scored 26 of 17 deliveries, which included three sixes. While Jitesh helped his side with a crucial knock with the bat, Vaibhav was just as effective with the new ball.

By sharing the new ball with South African speedster Kagiso Rabada, Vaibhav made an immediate impact and went on to fire Robin Uthappa and Moeen Ali in his first two overs. After creating early pressure, the 24-year-old finished his quota of four over under the economy of 6, giving up only 21 runs and picking two wickets.

Mayank shared his views on the pair, during the post-match presentation: “Vaibhav was with us a few years ago .. saw the talent there. He is different, he is young and has some good skills. With Jitesh, Anil had bhai him “When he was in MI. He said we should have this baby. He has good intentions. The striking thing about him is his attitude.”

Batting first piled PBKS 180/8 on the board and then went to bundle out CSK at 126. They will now play against Gujarat Titans on Friday.
