IPL 2022, SRH Predicted XI vs LSG: In a run-sided encounter, Sunrisers Hyderabad went down to Rajasthan Royals with 61 runs, ended a bad day in office and begin their IPL 2022 spelling on a disappointing note. Hyderabad chased 211 for the win, failing to pose a serious threat to Rajasthan as they dropped to 29 for four at the start. The team eventually managed to score 149 for seven as it was replayed in all three divisions of the game in Pune. Had it not been for Aiden Markram’s unbeaten 57 and Washington Sundar’s 14 balls 40, the 2016 IPL champions would have reached an even lower total.
Hyderabad finished last year with the wooden spoon and recorded only three wins from 14 games, and the unit will try to get back on its feet to avoid another mediocre season. They face a stiff challenge from new entrants Lucknow Super Giants, who set up a clinical show against defending champions Chennai Super Kings to record their first win in the league.
Hyderabad will have to deal with a strong batting lineup that includes the likes of KL Rahul and Evin Lewis, and the expertise of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and the raw pace of Umran Malik remain crucial. The focus will also be on the opening combination of Hyderabad and it remains to be seen whether Abhishek Sharma will start the innings with skipper Williamson. Also, Sundar had a memorable outing against Rajasthan where he scored 47 in his three overs. Following the departure of Rashid Khan, Hyderabad has intensified its spin offensive by picking up Shreyas Gopal and Jagadeesha Suchith for 75 lakh en 20 lakh respectively. But they only had Sundar as a spin alternative in the previous game, and they could add a tweaker to the eleven when the action went to the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai.
Ahead of Match 12 of IPL 2022, we look at the likely playing XI for Sunrisers Hyderabad …
Kane Williamson: Following the departure of David Warner, Williamson has two major responsibilities. Together with the leader of the side, the Kiwi form the turning point of their batting. He scored only two in the final match before falling prey to Prasidh Krishna. Williamson will be enthusiastic to help his side gain some early momentum, but he has big shoes to complete the quest for a second IPL title for Hyderabad.
Washington Sundar: He was a top-order specialist batsman during his India U-19 days. Sundar has honed his bowling skills since his rise in the international arena to present himself as an all-rounder. But Hyderabad can beat the attacking left hand, who is 6’1 “and uses his height to the most advantage.
Rahul Tripathi: Its form at the No. 3 position will be crucial all season. The former Kolkata Knight Riders star was instrumental to his previous franchise, scoring at a strike level of 141.96, which is the best at the No. 1.3 batting spot. He can maximize the powerplay against Lucknow.
Aiden Markram: He had scored a brave 41-ball 57 at a time when his side were losing wickets at regular intervals. Markram’s fifty slowed it down inevitably and reduced the margin of defeat and he remained a crucial element in the midfield, especially when Nicholas Pooran’s show began with SRH on a thought.
Nicholas Pooran: He has been in a stellar form of late for the West Indies. He was in fact the best performance of West Indies with the bat against England and India. But Pooran, who healed 10.75 cr in the February auction, started his season with a nine-ball duck against Rajasthan. He would seek to redeem himself against the Super Giants.
Abdul Samad: We have not seen his best so far, but the boy has been supported by many pundits including Irfan Pathan to make it big in the league. Samad has the power to wipe the border rope with absolute ease and also with some over chipging. Samad, who was Hyderabad’s design choice, tries to restore the faith shown in him by the franchise.
Romario Shepherd: He also had an 18-ball 24 goal against Rajasthan to send his side to a respectable total. With the ball he came back with figures of 1/33 in four overs. Shepherd also has a big job on his hands, especially after Jason Holder’s departure. Shepherd was bought for 7.75 crores in the mega auctions.
Shreyas Gopal: While Washington may chip in with four overs, Hyderabad will be enthusiastic trying to boost Shreyas Gopal or J Suchithg their spin attack. He had a pretty quiet IPL 2021 where he only played three games before moving his base to Hyderabad. Gopal is just two short wickets of 50 IPL wickets and he will look to tick off the milestone. His best figures in the T20 league are 4/16 against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Umran Malik: He thundered against Rajasthan Royals. He may not have mastered the accuracy part, but Malik’s blistering pace is a big plus for Hyderabad. He can clock 150 km / h with ease and the boy will see some strange scalps against Lucknow.
T Natarajan: He has the experience of playing for India and Natarajan is expected to leave his mark this year in Indian conditions. In 25 games, he has 22 wickets under his belt with the most at death. Playing after a long dismissal of injuries, he picked up two wickets against Rajasthan but gave up 43 runs in his four overs against Rajasthan.
Bhuvnewshwar Kumar: An automatic choice! His experience and ability to swing the ball in both sides make him the leader of Hyderbad’s bowling package. Bhuvneshwar looked like his old self in the last game where he was the choice of SRH bowlers. He took the crucial wicket of opposition skipper Sanju Samson and came back with figures of 1/29 in his four.
