Unlike in 2008 gas pricing, today’s SUVs are more fuel efficient. The smaller ones are often built on the same chassis as sub-compact cars from car manufacturers.
Adam Lee knows the drill. He has seen it before.
When fuel prices skyrocketed during the Great Recession, buyers came to his family’s car dealerships to buy gas-leaking small cars.
“Everyone traded in their big SUVs and trucks, and we sold every little car we could,” said Lee, president of Lee Auto Malls in Maine.
