Actor-turned-writer Twinkle Khanna has talked about how she did not want to become an actor but had to take her career ‘out of necessity’. During her recent interview with actor Kareena Kapoor for her Tweak India platform, Twinkle revealed how she chose the profession because she had a single mother. Twinkle is the daughter of actor Dimple Kapadia and late actor Rajesh Khanna.
In the show, Kareena Kapoor talked about choosing an actor’s career, “I think an actress is too, I mean you’ve been an artist, you know that, and I think people say ‘Okay, it’s is the easy way out. ” I find that extremely tough. ‘ Twinkle replied, “I do not think it’s easy. I just could not do it.
Twinkle then asked Kareena how she convinced her family that she wanted to work in movies because girls from ‘the Kapoor clan were not allowed in movies’. She replied: “I think my mother was also very helpful. When my father found out that Lolo wanted an actress, he was a little overwhelmed at first, but also many people who know my father know that he is extreme. “I think he’s very open.” Kareena said he ‘is more on a friend than being that father who’ no, we can not do this, this tradition and that ‘. So we are very lucky in that way that, you know, happens and Lolo has paved the way a little bit and I just followed.
Twinkle said: “I know for you it was a choice, but for me I really did not want to become an actress. It was out of necessity, I had a single mother and she was for everyone.” She went on, “I even think for Lolo, it was kind of like that, she had to drop out of college and get in there.” When Kareena pointed out that they started ‘very young’, Twinkle said: “We started very young and it was really about, ‘This is the fastest way to support our families’.”

Dimple broke up with Rajesh in 1973 and divorced him in 1982. The couple had two daughters – Twinkle and Rinke Khanna. Twinkle married actor Akshay Kumar in January 2001 and they have a son, Aarav and a daughter, Nitara.
